A picture of a group of paper-people cutouts, around a globe remind us that those who deal with fibromyalgia need never feel alone.Welcome to the homepage of the North Bay Fibromyalgia Forum (NBFMF), formerly called the Napa Valley Fibromyalgia Support Group. The group was founded in 1992 to provide education, information, and support to persons with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS or FM). The free meetings are presented and facilitated by Dr. Rebecca E. Thompson.

The NBFMF meets monthly, except December, at Napa Valley College, 2277 Napa-Vallejo Highway.  Persons with fibromyalgia, family members, friends, and interested medical professionals are encouraged to attend.

Each month, qualified speakers present information on health care issues related to fibromyalgia; handouts and articles of interest are distributed, and an NBFMF monthly publication, Fibromyalgia Online Gazette (FOG), is provided to those who register as members of the group.  Meetings are held on Saturdays. A social half-hour begins at noon followed by the general forum from 12:30-2:30 p.m.  Parking at NVC is free on Saturdays.

The goals of the North Bay Fibromyalgia Forum are to discuss relevant current research in FM, learn methods to manage chronic pain and stress, increase general functional abilities, and participate in a support group “network.”

For information, call facilitator Dr. Rebecca E. Thompson at 253-3335 ext. 1507, or e-mail her at fmforum@sbcglobal.net .
